This is an electric wall clock from Mazda Electric. It was dead stock in a paper box from Shibaura Mazda Industrial Co., Ltd., but it didn't work, so we replaced the movement with a battery-powered one.
Shibaura Mazda Industry was established with investment from Shibaura Engineering Works and Tokyo Electric Power Company, and existed for only a few years until the two companies merged in 1939 to become Tokyo Shibaura Electric (now Toshiba).
The dark brown case is probably made of brass, and there is a hole at the top where the cord was threaded. The dial is probably celluloid, and is about 15.5 cm in diameter. The back is about 20 cm in diameter, making it a small size for a wall clock.
Although this item is unused, there is some tarnish and minor scratches on the case and dial, and the outer box and packaging may be dusty or damaged.
Operation <br data-mce-fragment="1">Uses one AA battery (manganese battery recommended). To change the battery or set the time, remove the flathead screw on the back.
