EAGLE BRAND 'ALL WHITE' IRONSTONE Large Plate, φ26cm

This large ironstone (hardware) plate arrived unused, still wrapped in straw. The stamp on the bottom reads "EAGLE BRAND All White Ironstone Oven Proof Japan," but the manufacturer is unknown. We suspect it was probably made for export in the 1940s or 1950s.

The color is a very pale off-white, and it is densely covered with tiny crazing. When you tap it with your fingernail, it doesn't make as high-pitched a noise as porcelain, but it feels quite hard and quite heavy. While many hard ceramic dishes seem relatively light and soft, this one feels of the same high quality as NIKKO.

All items are unused, but may have traces of bubbles from the manufacturing process, small dents, fine grain patterns, slight stains, and slight scratches that appear to have occurred during storage. Items with significant stains or scratches will be discounted.

Precautions <br data-mce-fragment="1">Because it is water-absorbent, avoid soaking it in water for a long time, and make sure to dry it thoroughly after washing before storing it. Also, do not use it in a microwave oven.
