This is a handleless mug from the USQMC (United States Army Quartermaster Corps). It's believed that this type of mug was designed without a handle so that it could be used on a rocking ship by the US Navy. However, USQMC mugs have occasionally been found, suggesting that handleless mugs like this were also used due to space constraints during transportation. Incidentally, this type of mug is also known as a Navy watch mug or watchman's mug, as watchmen on ships would keep their hands warm while on duty.

Scammel is probably a relatively unknown manufacturer in Japan, but its clients are extremely diverse, including hotels, restaurants, hospitals, railways, and country clubs.

The stamp on the bottom is not ink but a rare stamp. There is a small dent on the side that was made during manufacturing, as well as a few small scratches and stains, but the inside is mostly intact and there is no major damage such as cracks or chips.

It can be used not only as a coffee mug, but also as a soup or dessert cup, or to hold vegetable sticks. It can be used in a variety of ways, depending on your imagination. We hope that military fans and those looking for a unique ceramic mug will consider this mug.
