Tortoiseshell design namasu (deep) plate, set of 2

This namasu dish has a grayish surface, with what appears to be a sailing ship in the center and a tortoiseshell pattern around the edge. It dates from the mid- to late Edo period. It has kiln marks such as frills and holes from the manufacturing process, as well as scratches and chips.

With a diameter of about 13cm, this deep plate is extremely versatile and can be used to serve side dishes or salads, as a serving plate for hot pot dishes, or for desserts.
