A large lacquered bowl. Its age is unknown, but I've heard it's a Goroku bowl made in Ishikawa Prefecture. It has a distinctive, very high base, which was apparently designed to be used while placed on the floor.
It is perfect for soups and noodles, and since it is similar in size to a rice bowl, it can also be used to serve simmered dishes.
There are some scratches and slight unevenness in the lacquer, but there are no cracks or chips that could be felt, and the piece is in good working condition.
