This is an andonzara (lantern dish) that is thought to date from the end of the Edo period to the Meiji period. It was placed inside a lantern and used as a tray to catch oil that dripped from the oil dish. There are some crazing, blackening, dents, and chips, but the purchase price was low, so it is being offered at a bargain price.
