Lantern box

This wooden box is specifically designed for lanterns and is thought to date back to the Meiji period. The word "Azuma" is written in bold letters on both sides, with "Kuchi Kita" written next to it, but further details are unknown.

The box itself is held together with wooden pegs, but there are small handles, which appear to be made of copper, attached to both sides of the box and lid, giving it a refined look.

There are some scratches and dark spots, but it doesn't appear to have been eaten by insects. It can be used as a small item holder, and is also pleasing to the eye just by displaying it.
