In the United States, the manufacture of insulators, which are insulating devices, began in the mid-1800s as electric wires became more widespread. Initially, wood and glass were the main materials used, but porcelain insulators gradually became the mainstream due to issues of strength, insulating performance, and price.

This insulator is a type known as a cable top style, characterized by a stable form with a wide flared base. The manufacturer is unknown, and the exact age cannot be determined, but it is thought to date from the early 1900s to the 1950s at the latest.

In terms of condition, there is one grain that was attached during manufacturing, and there are scratches and glare on the surface due to aging, but there is no damage such as major chips, so it can be said to be in good condition. The inside has been thoroughly cleaned as well.

This type of insulator is rare in Japan, and is large and has a strong presence. It can be displayed as an object of art or used as a paperweight.
