Weasel sculpture

There's what appears to be a signature carved into the bottom, but the body is coated with varnish or something, and there are two lines carved on both sides that look like they were carved by mistake, so it's a bit mysterious. The Inuit people make these figurines out of soapstone, so perhaps this was a practice piece, or a failed piece, or perhaps it was tweaked by a previous owner. Or perhaps it was made for fun by someone completely unrelated to the Inuit, and in any case, the incomprehensibility of this piece is fascinating.

The color is greenish blue. It's hard to tell if it's a monster or an animal, but the small whiskers carved into it make it look like a weasel or an otter.

It's about 23cm long and weighs about 1kg. I hope you enjoy it as an anonymous piece of art.
