When you open the lid, you'll find six coin cases inside. You can put coins in with the lid closed, but the hole just above the coin slot also connects to a small box inside, and how this works is a mystery.
Judging from the patent number, it is estimated to be from the 1930s or 1940s. The outer box shows a fair amount of rust and tarnish, but the inner box only shows a little.
It can be used as a piggy bank, as well as for storing parts and organizing other small items.
