This eight-volume hardcover photo book covers American history from 1870 to 1970. Published by Time-Life Books in 1969 and 1970, the first volume covers the period from 1870 to 1900, and the subsequent volumes cover each decade, providing photographs and texts on various aspects of life, culture, film, music, sports, and more that are symbolic of each era.
The cloth binding is very elaborately designed, and just lining it up on a shelf makes it a beautiful piece. There is damage to the spine and corners of the cover, some discoloration on the edges, and the 252nd page of the 1920-1930 volume is torn (see the last photo), but there is no peeling on the spine or any noticeable peeling of the gold leaf on the title.
