This sculpture of a lying seal is thought to be one of the works that the Inuit people living in northern Canada and Alaska began making around the 1950s.
Compared to typical Inuit art, the sculptures are neither too simple nor too elaborate, and seem to effectively express natural poses. The material is stone, and although it is not possible to determine the specific material, it seems that stones that are easy to work with, such as soapstone, are often chosen.
There are no cracks or chips, and no noticeable scratches, so it is in very good condition. There is a signature engraved on the bottom, but it was difficult to read.
