This black vintage Stanley features a USN stamp on the bottom. Stanley's history began in 1913 with the invention of a stainless steel vacuum insulated bottle by William Stanley Jr. The company has since gone through many ups and downs, but even back then it has prided itself on its durability and ability to keep drinks hot or cold.
Stanley was acquired by Aladdin, a company also known for its stoves, in 1965 and manufactured in Nashville, Tennessee until 2002. However, this stove was manufactured in 1950 under the Landers, Frary & Clark brand. Its rounded shoulders give it a very different design from current models.
The inner lid is made of cork and has faded, but there is no noticeable dirt. The inside has some discoloration near the entrance that cannot be removed, but there is no visible damage.
The exterior has some scratches, some paint peeling, and some tarnish, but no significant rust.
The key to use is preheating and precooling. It takes a little time, but preheating by adding hot water before adding hot drinks. Precooling by adding cold water before adding cold drinks will extend the hot/cold retention time (we also recommend adding ice for cold drinks).
