It is believed to be a dish used by the ancient Mayan civilization. There are red lines drawn horizontally and vertically, and six images of what appear to be monkeys are painted between them.

The Mayan civilization flourished in an area spanning Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, and Honduras. With a long history spanning more than 2,000 years, and based on an examination of similar Mayan vessels, this item is believed to date from around the 5th to 10th century.

Unfortunately, I am not an expert, so I cannot be certain about the purpose or age of the item. Therefore, the price is simply determined from the purchase price (which is probably a bargain...). Please note that although there is no soil or dirt, there may be scratches, chips, repair marks, and cracks.
