This is a banju (thin wooden shipping box) that was used by a long-established Japanese confectionery shop with over 600 years of history. It's unclear how long these wooden banju were in use, but the corners are reinforced with brass fittings and all sides are branded. It's well-made for a box used for Japanese confectionery.
There are stains, black spots, scratches and cracks, but I think it can be used for various purposes, such as storage and display, depending on your ideas.
