This is an old kettle made by Shinko Metal in Tsubame City. It has a nice shape, but this model is no longer available and I don't know when it was made.
The sides are tarnished, the copper on the handle is faded, and there is some burnt marks on the bottom, so it shows signs of good use, but there are no dents or patina. However, the knob on the lid was missing, so I had a friend make a new one.
There are round spots on the inside bottom, but according to Shinko Metals , this does not pose a hygiene problem. I actually boiled water in the copper kettle and compared it to water boiled in a stainless steel kettle, and although I couldn't really tell the difference in taste, the water in the copper kettle seemed softer, or more rounded.
The capacity is about 1.8 liters when filled to about 90% capacity, but if you fill it to this amount, it will boil over, so use less. It is not suitable for induction cooking. When cleaning, please use a mild detergent and be careful not to use abrasives or metal scouring pads.
