This is a handleless mug used by the US Navy. Durability is required for use on a rocking ship, so it is made quite thick. Furthermore, handles would break if they were hit, so they were not designed to have handles in the first place.
These types of mugs are known as "Navy Watch Mugs" or "Watchman's Mugs" because they were very useful for sailors to warm their hands while on watch on board the ship, but because they were never produced for the general public, very few remain and they are rare.
By the way, Corning's milk glass mugs were the most commonly produced watchman's mugs, but porcelain mugs were also supplied by various manufacturers, including Shenango, Tepco, Sterling, Victor, Jackson, and Walker.
The color is not pure white, but a pale off-white. In terms of condition, there are some small scratches and stains, and there is a scraped area on the rim, but the inside bottom is clean.
The stamp on the bottom is rare and not found in any materials I have, but it resembles stamps from the 1920s and 1930s, so I imagine it may be from that period.
There are many ways to enjoy it, and because it is simple, it can be used in a variety of ways, such as as a coffee cup, soup cup, ice cream cup, zenzai cup, or vegetable stick holder.
