This is a Seikosha electric watch that was found unused and still in its box. It is a watch powered by electricity rather than a mainspring, and Seikosha has been manufacturing and selling such electric watches since the 1930s (early Showa period).
At the time, there were no modern-day electrical outlets in every home, so electricity was supplied from a two-pronged socket invented by Konosuke Matsushita, which was plugged into the light bulb.
Judging from the model number on the back plate, this is likely the oldest model of Seikosha electric clock. However, it was not working, so I replaced it with a battery-powered movement. The sides are likely made of brass and are a deep brown with little red. The dial is 25cm in diameter, making it a convenient size for home use.
Although it is unused, there is some discoloration and staining on the dial, suggesting that it was displayed. Other than that, there are only minor scratches and no significant damage. It comes with its own box, but please note that the cardboard box may have some damage such as darkening and dents.
Operation <br data-mce-fragment="1">Uses one AA battery (manganese battery recommended). To change the battery or set the time, remove the flathead screw on the back.
