Vintage bookends

These vintage Japanese bookends are something you'd expect to find, but are surprisingly hard to find. The design seems unremarkable, but upon closer inspection, the paint is cracked, creating a nice finish. Looking at the bottom, it appears they were originally a vibrant green.

The red rust has been polished off, but please note that some rust remains. This is a set of two pieces as shown in the photo.
