Royal, a rare manufacturer founded in New York in 1904, is still making typewriters today. This is a part of the Quiet Deluxe series, which was produced from 1939 to 1959. The body is mocha and the keys are green, creating a nice color combination. The keys are made of plastic (Bakelite?), so it's likely from the 1950s.
The case has scratches, discoloration, and rust on the metal fittings. The typewriter itself has some whitish stains on the plastic parts, but there is no significant damage to the metal parts. It has been cleaned as much as possible.
The ink ribbon has been replaced with a new one. The spool is the original one that came with the printer.
It has levers and buttons that are not found on ordinary typewriters, and there are some things that are unclear about how to use it, but the general instructions for use are as follows.
How to use: Open the plate part of "QUIET DE LUXE" and adjust the left and right margins▼
Insert the paper from the back of the roller.
Turn the left and right knobs to feed the paper.
Move the line feed lever to the right and move the carriage to the position where you want to type the first character.
Start typing
Line breaks
When you move the line break lever to the right, the line will automatically break and be set to the leftmost position of the next line.
Line spacing adjustment
Starting from the back, there are regular, one-line gaps, and two-line gaps (see the last photo).
Change ink color
You can change the ink color using the lever on the top right of the keyboard. If you set it to yellow, you can type without inserting a ribbon.
