Position and balance inspection

It is a tool used to measure the thickness of silk thread from the weight of a certain length. Originally, there would have been a stick to hang the thread on, but this no longer exists.

It is made of iron and is black in color. The handle and the central rotating hook are likely brass. The legs have adjustment screws to ensure stability even on uneven surfaces. The central hook is inscribed with "Made by Masuzawa."

There is some tarnish on the iron and some rust on the brass, but it's not too bad and has a nice aged look. You can hang necklaces or keys on the hook, but the color and shape make it a fun object to have around.
