Nowadays, most mason jar lids are either a thin metal disc that fastens with a ring, or a glass lid that is held down with wire, but in the past, there were lids that fastened the glass lid with a metal ring.
Among them, the Presto lid, which uses a rust-resistant aluminum ring, is not only practical but also outstanding in terms of design. The structure is such that a glass disc closes the mouth of the mason jar, and then an aluminum ring is tightened on top to secure it in place.
Glass has the advantage of being rust-free, making it easy to use for storing food. Aluminum is also corrosion-resistant, so it won't develop the red rust stain. Like glass discs, it's hygienic to use. This is a must-have for anyone looking to use vintage mason jars for food storage. For even better airtightness, consider purchasing a special rubber gasket .
There is some cloudiness on the glass, scratches and dullness on the aluminum ring, and slight deformation, but no severe dirt or damage. Both the glass and the ring have been carefully polished to ensure comfortable use.
Regarding the diameter : The size is for a regular mouth, so it can be used with mason jars of brands other than Presto as long as they are regular mouth size. If you are concerned about the size, please feel free to ask us.
