Glass dome for display

It's a small glass dome on a white porcelain base. I searched for it, thinking it might be a glass dome for specimens, but I couldn't find any white porcelain bases like this. Perhaps it's a display dome for a tobacco shop? I'm not sure what it is exactly, but it's definitely a rare item.

The glass is old and wrinkled, made before the war. The base may appear to have scratches, but these are wrinkles that occurred during manufacturing. There are scratches on the side of the dome and a small chip at the base, but the damage is not severe.

Maybe it would be nice to display something small, or maybe even add a little greenery.
