It is a thick porcelain container with a lid. Two metal rods protrude from the rim, and the lid must have originally been secured with screws, but the screws are no longer there.
It is unclear how it was used, but the inside is not glazed, so it is unlikely to have been used for storing food. I hope it can be used as a vase, small item holder, pen holder, etc. The sides are in fairly good condition, but please note that there are stains on the opening and bottom.
