This is the blade that sticks out like a tongue from a plane, called a plane blade. There is no base for the plane, only the blade.
After scraping off the rust and polishing it, The texture is now extremely good. The red rust is still there, but it's not the kind that will flake off.
The blade is a little jagged so it cannot be used as a plane, but it is still fairly sharp so please be careful.
