This mug is likely to have been sold by Otagiri. Otagiri Mercantile Company was an American company founded in the 1950s that imported ceramic products manufactured in Japan until it was acquired by Enesco in 1994. Otagiri's products were not cheap mass-produced goods, but rather high-quality items that were handmade or hand-painted, and its main clients were high-end department stores and gift shops.

The color is gray, and you can see a pattern of large and small sand grains. The hem has a brown and cobalt line, and the iron glaze on the outside of the handle is a nice accent. There are two pieces in stock, one with a light brown painted edge and one without, but the unpainted one is slightly larger.

It appears to have been exported in the 1960s or 1970s, but it's in very good condition, with no noticeable scratches or stains inside or out. It's perfect for coffee, cafe au lait, soups, ice cream, and zenzai.
