OLIVETTI Valentine S Typewriter, Ink Ribbon Replaced, Part of Defective Condition

The Olivetti Valentine typewriter is highly acclaimed for its unconventional design by Ettore Sottsass and its excellent storage and portability, and is included in the permanent collections of museums such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

This product has the letter "S" after Valentine, but is a slightly cheaper version that omits the tab key.

We cleaned as much of the reachable area as possible, and used an air compressor to remove dust and dirt from hard-to-reach areas inside. The plastic parts have a glossy finish, but small scratches and dark spots that cannot be completely removed remain.

Please note that the rubber securing the case to the main body is missing, and one of the four cushioning rubbers on the bottom of the case is missing.

Up to this point, this is pretty common damage, but unfortunately the carriage does not stop after a line break, so we are considering it a problem. It will eventually stop after a few tries, but if you want to use it, please consider having it repaired. By the way, the ink ribbon has been replaced with a new one.

How to use <br>Insert the paper from the back of the roller▼
Turn the knob next to the roller to advance the paper to the position where you want to type the first character.
Adjust the left and right margins with the left and right sliders on the scale at the back▼
Press the line feed lever to move the carriage to the right.
Start typing

Line breaks
If you move the line feed lever on the left of the roller to the right, the line will automatically be fed and set to the leftmost position of the next line.

Line spacing adjustment
You can adjust the line spacing using the lever to the right of the line break lever.
0 no line spacing
1 normal
2 0.5 line gap
3 One line space *The last photo has the line spacing in this order.

Changing the ink color
You can change the ink color using the lever on the right side of the keyboard (if you set it to the center, it will be pressed without passing the ink ribbon through).
