Wooden boxes from the Edo to Meiji period

The wood and iron are impeccable. This is an antique wooden box believed to date from the Edo to Meiji period. Its intended use—whether as a pencil case, tool box, or valuables box—is unclear, but it is a size that would be useful even today. It has been cleaned, but please note that some rust and discoloration may remain.

It's deep enough to hold a considerable number of writing utensils, but we'd be happy if you could also use it to organize and store your everyday accessories.
