This is an old porcelain insulator made by Ohio Brass in the United States, marked with the letter "B" in an oval. In the mid-1800s, as electric wire became more widespread in the United States, the manufacture of insulators, which are insulating devices, began. Initially, wood and glass were the main materials used, but porcelain insulators gradually became the mainstream due to issues of strength, insulation performance, and price.
This piece has a rather unusual color, with a thin haze pattern over the dark brown. There is a white area below the neck, which is thought to be a pattern that was created during firing.
There are very few common scratches or tarnish, and it is in very good condition for this type of insulator. It would make a great object or paperweight.
