This is a NIKKO (Japanese Hard Pottery) plate with a blue line. The stamp on the back reads "KANAZAWA," and it was probably made for export. When it arrived, it was wrapped in newspaper from 1908 and 1923, so it's unlikely to be from the Meiji era, but I imagine it was made between the Taisho and early Showa periods.
→We also have a 16.5cm diameter plate with the same stamp .
Its diameter is about 22cm, making it the size of a small serving plate. It is also slightly deep, so it can be used as a soup plate.
There are kiln marks from the manufacturing process, such as paint splatters and fading, granular patterns, small particles, and cracks under the glaze. There is also damage such as crazing and stains, but this is a valuable plate from an era that can almost be called an antique, so we hope you will enjoy it as a taste that has come through the years (we have cleaned it as much as possible).
Items with chips, dents, or broken pieces are available at a discounted price.
Points to note
Because it is water-absorbent, avoid soaking it in water for a long time, and make sure to dry it thoroughly after washing before storing it. Also, do not use it in a microwave oven.
Size: Diameter 22-22.7cm, height approximately 3.5cm
