I see them every now and then, but I didn't know what they were until I was a little older. They're machines used to print checks and receipts. I imagine they're quite old, probably from around the 1950s.
The color and design are nice, and the logo on the bottom has a nice American feel. While recent models are electronic, the analog feel of holding the grip and printing each character is still appealing.
There are some scratches and discoloration, but after printing, it seems to still be usable. The printing is vertical, and the paper is automatically fed after each character is printed.
