Lightning is a long-established manufacturer of mason jars dating back to the 1870s. Founder Henry W. Putnam improved on the wire closure system for bottles, which had been invented at the time, laying the foundation for wire mason jars. Later, Ball and Atlas introduced the Ideal Jar and EZ Seal Jar, respectively, based on this system.
However, despite its achievements in the industry, the manufacturer is not well known, and the number of units still in existence is far fewer than Ball, Atlas, etc.
Although we have cleaned and polished it as much as possible, there are still small scratches, some cloudiness, and rust on the wire. Please also note that there is a crack in the neck area under the lid (this does not affect use). Please note that the lid will move even when the wire is tightened, so if you want to keep it airtight, please use a regular-sized rubber gasket .
The capacity is about 1600ml up to the neck. It can be used as a small item holder or to display dried flowers, and if you use a rubber gasket, it can also be used to store coffee beans, seasonings, snacks, etc.
