This is a heavy elephant figurine from America. It weighs a little over 3kg. The surface appears to be covered in leather, but unlike the usual leather-covered animals, it is made by gluing together small pieces of leather.
You can see a little bit of the inside through the missing leather area, and I think it was made from clay and then the leather was stretched over it.
We have tried to clean it as much as possible, but there is still a lot of blackening on the leather and some areas where the leather is missing. Also, please note that the left tusk is missing.
It is difficult to tell exactly, but I imagine it is quite old. It is a primitive, one-of-a-kind piece of folk art.
