Lawn bowls ball

This is a lawn bowls ball, a sport that originated in the UK. It is believed to be a Henselite product from the 1950s or earlier, and is marked "Henselite 4 13/16 Championship WB252."

I thought the material looked like Bakelite, so I looked at the Henselite website and saw that it is phenol formaldehyde, so it must be Bakelite after all.

The shape is asymmetrical, like a squashed sphere, so it curves when rolled. There are scratches on the surface, but those with chips and paint adhesions are discounted.
