The founder of Kyoto's Benrido, which produces postcards and various other artwork, was a tinsmith whose predecessor had been a client of the Imperial Palace for generations. As the Edo period gave way to the Meiji period, work gradually decreased with the dramatic change in the times, which apparently led to the founding of Benrido. This product is a tin cup washer made during that period from the end of the Edo period to the early Meiji period.

I don't think there are many antique tin cup washers made, but they have a crisp design and are clearly well made.

Please note that this item has only been washed with a mild detergent and may have some scratches or discoloration.
