We would like to introduce some rare mason jars from Kilner, a British company that has been making food storage jars since its founding in 1842.
Currently, Kilner mason jars use lids that have a thin metal lid + ring structure, similar to Ball and other brands, but the Original series uses a glass lid that is fastened with a metal ring.
The shape and size of the lid are the same as those of the Kilner Original series that came later, but the writing on the lid reads "KILNER BROS LTD MAKERS."
The production year is inscribed on the bottom of the back, indicating that this bottle was made in 1921 (it seems that this series was only produced in the early 1920s). Incidentally, from 1937 onwards, production was outsourced to United Glass Bottle Manufacturers, but at this time it was still produced in-house.
The glass has significant bubbles and distortions, giving it the character of an old bottle. There are few small scratches and no cracks or chips on the rim, but there is a stain to the right of the logo that cannot be removed, and a small crack can be seen to the bottom left of the year of manufacture (it is not completely through and there is no water leakage).
There was a lot of rust on the metal ring that tightens the lid, but it has been carefully polished so the rust will not stick to your hands and you should be able to use it comfortably.
The glass is thick, so it is quite heavy for its size (approximately 680g). It weighs 2lb (2 pounds) and has an actual capacity of approximately 800ml.
Both the bottle and the lid are made to a practical level, so you can of course use them to store food, but they also come with an original lid, making them rare Mason jars that rarely come on the market, so we hope you will treasure them for a long time.
