Kerr Glass Manufacturing Corporation, founded in 1903 as a company dealing in storage jars, is now a subsidiary of a larger company and is a somewhat obscure sister brand of Ball. However, the company's contributions to the mason jar industry, including the development of innovative lids, are significant.
The Self Sealing series was produced for a very long period of time and has a wide variety of variations, but judging from the embossed lettering on the side and bottom of this bottle, it is believed to have been produced in the 1940s or 1950s.
There is a small chip at the opening of the container, but other than that there is little damage such as scratches and it is in good condition. The lid was damaged, so we provided a genuine Kerr product of a similar age. The ring that closes the lid has some rust and peeling plating, but the inside is in good enough condition to be used for storing food.
It can be used as a small item holder or flower vase, and is also recommended for storing coffee beans, tea leaves, sweets, and seasonings.
