This is a stoneware soup cup made in Japan in the 1960s or 1970s and then shipped to the United States.
There are two white seabird-like birds painted on one side and one on the other, but as they are all hand-painted there are subtle differences.
The cup itself is grayish in color with a grained pattern. The handle and rim are painted with iron glaze. It is in very good condition with almost no scratches or stains on the bottom.
The capacity is about 440ml when filled to the brim, so it's great for soup, cereal, zenzai, and other desserts, and can also be used as a small bowl.
Size : Outer diameter of opening: 11.4cm, height: 6.9cm, weight: 420g, capacity: 440ml
