reeling

This is a tool used to reel silk thread from cocoons. It was originally made of wood, but in the 1900s, metal tools began to be made.

This piece dates from the Taisho to early Showa period. There is some rust, but the ironwork is excellent. It rotates smoothly. It would be a great piece to enjoy as an object, but it would also be great for displaying accessories.
