This clock is more of a gimmick than a clock itself; one ball is carried per minute and the time is read by the number of balls accumulated in the gauge.
This product was previously manufactured by the American company ARROW, and is now manufactured under license by Ikeda Bussan in Japan, and is believed to date back to the 1980s or 1990s. The mechanism is as follows:
When the fifth ball reaches the top row, it flows down and one ball accumulates in the middle row (5 minutes)
↓
When the 12th ball reaches the middle row, it flows down and one ball accumulates on the bottom row (1 hour).
↓
When the 13th ball reaches the bottom row, all balls flow (12 hours)
There may be times when the rotating bar is unable to place the balls properly on the tray, causing them to fall out. In that case, try pushing the bar and tray in the direction of the arrows as shown in the last photo.
There is a rotating bar at the end of the flow from the middle section, which acts as a valve to block the balls. I'm not entirely sure what its role is, but if the balls don't accumulate properly on the bar, lift this bar to release the balls.
There are small scratches on the case, tape marks on the cord, and what appear to be glue marks on the base. The time also doesn't seem to be accurate, so I hope you enjoy it as a toy.
