The Swiss precision machinery manufacturer Paillard released its first typewriter in 1887. It continued to make improvements thereafter, becoming one of the oldest manufacturers in the industry, continuing to manufacture typewriters until the advent of word processors.
The Hermes Media3 is a model that is almost identical in both shape and function to the major model Hermes 3000 (though the letter spacing is slightly wider than the Hermes 3000 and there is no lever to adjust the feel of the key). It comes in a distinctive mint color. The body is made of rounded metal and was probably manufactured between 1958 and 1966. Production shifted overseas in later years, but at this time it was still made in Switzerland.
By the way, Truman Capote is said to have loved the Hermes 3000, calling it the "Rolls-Royce of typewriters," and the title of the poster for the film "Capote," starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, uses typewriter-style letters.
The condition is good, and although there was some surface dirt, it was thoroughly cleaned. While it cannot be disassembled for maintenance, there is no visible internal damage. The ink appears faded in the photo, but it has since been adjusted. Please note that some lingering dirt and an old smell may remain.
The ink ribbon has been replaced with a new black and red two-color type. When the ink color lever is set to white, the text will be pressed without ink (just enough pressure to read it). When set to blue, it will print in black. When set to gold and red, the ribbon will not feed properly and will bend, so please be careful not to use it.
Two cleaning brushes and an English instruction manual are included. Please refer to the manual for detailed instructions .
