This automatic fly catcher was released in 1919 by the watch manufacturer Owari Tokei. When the mainspring is wound, a square shaft rotates. The square shaft is coated with a mixture of vinegar (sake) and sugar, attracting flies, who are then drawn into the net inside as the machine rotates. It was such a big hit at the time that imitations were spawned, and it was still in production until the early Showa period.
This item has some scratches and rust, but no serious damage. Please note that it will work if you wind the spring, but it will stop working immediately.
