It's a petri dish-like container with an octagonal lid fastened with a metal band. The official name is the "standard unit" included in the Conway water activity meter kit, but I have no idea what it means, so I'll just call it a thin container.
It is manufactured by Shibata Scientific, and judging from the words "micro-measurement device" on the lid, I imagine it is quite old, dating back to before the 1970s.
The interior is about 1cm deep and has an apple-shaped divider. The glass is in excellent condition with no chips or noticeable cloudiness. Perfect for storing small items like clips and accessories. The retail price is about 4,700 yen each.
