These simple chairs, originally used by dairy farmers while milking cows, have been made in various parts of Europe since ancient times, and are known by names such as milk stools, Bergé stools, or shepherd's stools, and have been a source of inspiration for designers.
This is a French stool from the 1940s or 1950s. It has a flat semicircular seat and three legs for stability on uneven ground.
There are scratches, cracks, and stains that cannot be removed, but the legs have been reassembled so it is not very wobbly and can still be used.
