A small French clip light. The clip is made of steel and the shade is made of aluminum. Both are painted green.
There are scratches, rust, peeling paint, and other damage that comes with years of use, but these also add to its endearing appearance.
The bulb used is a B15, and the shade is attached by clamping it to the bulb. The shade tends to slip out of place, but by turning it you can find a stable position. The cord has been replaced with a new one and includes an ON/OFF switch.
