These mason jars are from Forster's Glass Company in the UK. Forster is a long-established manufacturer that was founded in 1905 and continued until it was acquired by Rockware Glass in 1966.
The lid is a glass lid that fastens with a metal ring, just like the old Kilner jars, and is still very practical today. This type of lid ensures that the contents of the jar only come into contact with the glass, making it safe for storing food.
It was probably manufactured in the 1940s or 1950s. The glass has bubbles and a texture that is uneven, but there are few scratches associated with use and it remains in good condition.
The lid does not have the Forster's name on it, so it is likely made by a different manufacturer, but there are no problems with the size. The metal ring that secures the lid still has a lot of gold plating remaining, so it is also in good condition.
The glass is thick, so it feels heavy for its size. It weighs 1 lb (1 pound), but the actual capacity is 400 ml up to the narrow end of the lid.
The lid is very practical, so it can be used to store small items or display dried flowers, and for those who are more experienced, it can also be used to store coffee beans, tea leaves, sweets, seasonings, etc.
Size : Diameter approx. 8.2cm, height approx. 14.2cm, capacity 400ml, weight 494g
