This pencil sharpener is from Elm, a company that produced a wide range of stationery products. It's probably from the 1950s or 1960s. The design looks quite old, but the coloring is nice.
There was a lot of blackening left, so we thoroughly cleaned it. There are still some blackening and scratches that can't be removed, dirt on the shavings container, and some rust inside, but it is now in a much cleaner condition than when it arrived.
Here are the steps to remove it.
If you push down the lever on the side, the round part will move forward a little.
Press down on the knob and pull out the round part further.
Insert the pencil all the way in
Push the knob up to secure it
Shave
If you are using a pencil for the first time, you may not be able to sharpen it completely in one go, so insert it all the way in again and try sharpening it again. The sharpened pencil will be very sharp and not rough at all.
