This is a model assembly kit of a steam shovel from the UK. The plastic bag attached to the backing says "MADE IN ENGLAND BY TJSMITH & NEPHEW LTD, HULL 1945," so it seems to be from the 1940s, but since steam shovels only date back to the 1930s, it seems like it might be a little older. In any case, it's a very rare item. The paper case also has a very aged texture, and I probably would have bought it even if it had been sold as a separate case (depending on the price).
Inside, the parts are fastened to two backing sheets, but some parts have broken threads and are not fastened. Screws are included in their original state. The two plastic bags containing "Elastoplast" are empty.
It looks beautiful when displayed fixed on the mount, but I'd also like to see it assembled.
