We have two pieces of painted pottery from Ecuador in stock, and this is one of them, a teacup-shaped bowl. Although it is not as old as the Karchi or Tunkawan pieces from around 500-500 BC, it is thought to have been made using a technique called negative painting, which uses the same principles as batik.

The rough areas on the surface are from the firing process and are burnt-like marks that have adhered to the paint. There are no major chips or signs of repair, but please note that there are some small scratches on the surface and some areas where the surface has peeled off.

You can enjoy it as a decoration, or you can use it to store accessories or keys, or as a container for potpourri, and have fun using it.
