Date nails were hammered into wooden objects such as railroad ties, bridges, and utility poles to mark the year. The first two digits represent the last two digits of the year, so for example, "28" means the watch was made in 1928.
Date nails are generally pulled out when the wood is removed, but sometimes they end up bending during this process, which can make them look unsightly and put some customers off, but on the flip side, they are a rare item that only makes up a few percent of the total. Being a bit of a contrarian, we found this unsightly design appealing, so we decided to offer them separately from the straight type.
Please note that the degree of bending and damage may vary depending on the product.
